Badal writes to PM on Takht Sri Huzoor Sahib

The Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal has opposed the Maharashtra government move of deputing a non-baptised person as chief of the management board of Takht Sri Huzoor Sahib, Nanded.

In a letter to PM Modi, Badal said the move was in complete violation of the highly venerated Sikh “maryada”. The move was likely to hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikhs all over the world.

Badal said there was neither religious sancity nor administrative logic behind this move. This was completely avoidable provocation that could have bearing on the on the ideals of communal harmony in the country.

The CM said the present development was an off-shoot of the decision of the previous Congress government in Maharashtra to drastically decrease the representation of the supreme Sikh religious parliament, the SGPC, and the iconic Sikh heritage body Chief Khalsa Diwan on the historic Takht Sri Huzoor Sahib, Nanded, Board.
