One more farmer committed suicide
Cases of suicide by farmers in Punjab are increasing day by day. Recently a farmer Jagraj Singh from village Golewala, Faridkot committed suicide by jumping into Rajasthan Feeder River. Jagraj Singh was under pressure of loan amount of Rs30 Lakhs. Loan amount was too much big that it was not possible to Jagra Singh to return it back by doing farming.
Before committing suicide Jagraj Singh along with his brother went to Faridkot to sell out a plot. Jagraj Singh asked his brother to stop nearby river as he wants to make a call to somebody, when his brother stopped Jagraj ran towards river and jumped into it. As per statement by Jagraj’s brother, Jagraj was so much under pressure due to loan amount. Even Jagraj’s brother tried to save Jagraj Singh but he failed.
Jagraj Singh went to to make a registry of 2 Kanals which were on road as his son’s wedding was on 19th, March 2017.Jagraj Singh was survived by 3 childern. After this incident, police reached on the spot and trying to find out Jagraj’s dead body with help of divers. On the other hand Farmer Union demanded that loan amount on Jagraj’s name should be exempted and a job should be given to atleast one of the family member.Government should work out on this suicide issue by farmers as farmers play very important role in Punjab.
