Sacrilege cases still on in Punjab
Sacrilege cases of Guru Granth Sahib are not halting till date. There were already more than 95 cases in Punjab in the recent times and no one was arrested. In recent election this is one of issues and have gone against the ruling party, that is, Shiromani Akali Dal, which tried its level best to get out of it.
In the recent incident, one arrest was made, and the one who was arrested is said to be mentally unstable person, who is undergoing treatment. Incident took place at village Devinagar in Dera Bassi. A local boy went to Gurudwara in the village and found torn out pages of Shri Guru Granth Sahib, later it was found that around 50 pages were missing. He found around 25 of them in the premises and rest of the pages are still missing. Boy told the media person that he went to Gurudwara sahib in the morning at around 7 on Sunday morning, and only then he and other villagers came to know about the incident.
Police was informed by the locals , which has registered case and started the investigation. Surjit singh alias polla, is the accused , who has been arrested by the police. Senior police officer told the media person, that the accused has admitted his offense and has been behind the bars. He further confirmed that the accused Surjit singh is mentally ill person and his treatment is going on at Dharampur, disst. Solan of Himachal Pardesh. Accused who is around 27 year of age also went to one Mazzar (Worship place for Muslims) in the village and inflected some damages to that place too.
A senior resident of the village narrated that , when that boy informed villagers, they made announcement from the Gurudwara radio, and the whole Sikh community gathered there to plan the future actions. In the same time police was also called , which swung into action and arrested the accused without wasting much time.
Last incident took place at Mukatsar Sahib, as some people were looking it from political angle, but latest one happened after elections , leading us to no conclusion.
