Conflicting private power discoms’ tax hike appliaction, 15 MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party have written to the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) saying that the review petitions for 2015-2016 should be rejected by the managerial body.
Communicating their challenges, the lawmakers have written to the DERC asking an opportunity for personal presence during the public hearings on the discoms’ appliactions. According to them, the discoms are misguiding the public citing rules as the main reason for their default payments.
Interrogating the move of the discoms, they said, “Inability of discoms cannot be allowed to stress the public. On what basis are the discoms asking a larger rate of interest on working capital? Conflicts in the power acquisition prices noted by discoms, efforts to conceal non-tariff income by the discoms are examples of economical mismanagement.
“Also, they closed the electricity companies supposing that faulty ways were used in reading the meters and incorrect methodology was applied under the attire of day and net metering along with impractical projections to pick up tax payers’ money.
These MLAs have pointed out that the DERC should order the discoms to immediately decrease the tariffs for domestic consumers to improve its credibility.
