Two cracker shops caught fire in busy market of Dhuri Punjab, on the Diwali day. The reason behind the fire is loose wires which resulted in short circuit leading to fire. The local shopkeepers complained that there is fire almost every year because of faulty connections and loose wires in the whole area.
Locals told the media person that they have complained about the problem to the authorities may times, but no one is coming to help them out.
Thought there was no loss of life and no one was injured but goods worth lakhs were gutted in the fire. Local shopkeepers and residents were angry with the administration because no one from the administration or senior leader was present at the spot. Locals also demanded a fire brigade for the area, which is a long standing demand of the people living here.
In the same kind of incident last year, government promised compensation for those who suffered losses in fire but people told the media person that they have not being paid yet.
Shop keeper Amit kumar and Charanjit singh demanded compensation from the government as the reason for the loss is faulty wires of the electricity department.
Dharam pal, president of Viparmandal told that although the selling of crackers is banned in the market, but because lapse on the part of administration, people are selling crackers illegally here. The role of Municipal council is also under scanner in playing with the life of the people and not doing their duty properly.
