Final results shows, its all BJP in Chandigarh MC elections 2017. Demonetization was major issue in the country and Congress party tried its level best to make it a issue but failed. In general Municipal Elections are fought on local issues, and all the candidates use their local connections and relations to win elections.

Same funda seems to have worked this time too, congress was not able to cash national issue and their weak local candidates were not able to stand against the strong candidates of BJP-SAD combine.

BJP clearly won 20 out of 26 total seats, and result on one is still awaited. From Ward number 21, Gurpeet Dhillon is the winner. He won by approximately 262 votes over his nearest rival.

Mahesh Inder singh Sidhu BJP candidate was able to clear ward number 1 seat by 324 seats. Asha Jaiswal from ward number 17 is the winner. she got 1700 votes more than the rival candidate. Anil Dubey from ward 24, won by huge margin of 5000 votes.

Akali-BJP leader Hardeep singh won from ward number 10. Heera negi won from ward number 13. Ward number 22 candidate Dawesh moudgil won. Ward number 2 Rajballa malik won the seat, by the huge margin of 2000 votes.

Congress was eyeing Punjab elections , which are due in few months, that is the reason congress party tried its level best to win this elections. But people of Chandigarh have given mandate in favor of BJP, which will give moral support to BJP’s national leadership which was waiting cross hands because of demonetization.

Akali-BJP combine is now confident of facing the biggest challenger AAP, which fielding senior leaders against all senior leaders of SAD-BJP.
