ABVP clashes in Delhi reaches Chandigarh University

After clashes at Ramjas Campus in Delhi, now its the turn of Chandigarh University, where group of students from ABVP and SFS confronted face to face. Issue started when students group of ABVP started Dharna to show solidarity to their counter parts in Delhi. On the same time student belonging to SFS organisation staged Dharan against Delhi ABVP and final result was clash between the two groups.

Chandigarh Police came into swift action and took control of the situation. Police also took some of the leaders from both the parties to make sure situation remained under their control only. One of the leader from SFS, named Harman told the media person that ABVP is being used as force to suppress any voice against the ruling BJP in any university around the country.

He alleged that last year incident in JNU and some other similar incidents in other universities are clear indication of ABVP being used as goonda brigade of the Modi government.

On the other Hand refuting all the allegations, ABVP leader from Chandigarh University Harmanjot Singh Gill, said they were protesting peacefully when the SFS members started abusing girl supporters. He alleged that some students were even slapped in the presence of media persons. He said ABVP is not going to tolerate these things at all , the today’s confrontation is the result of the above incident only.

Earlier Gurmehar Kaur’s picture went viral on social media when she posted her picture carrying placard , which read as , she is not afraid of ABVP. In Ramjas Campus ABVP protested against a seminar in which some speakers were targeted by the ABVP which they don’t want them to participate in the seminar.
