A Sikh man was abused and assaulted in full public view and video was recorded by the accused which has gone viral on social media now. Incident took place at Abohar city of Punjab, where religious symbol of Sikhs, head gear known as ‘Pagri’ was removed and he was dragged by pulling his hairs.
Here important thing to notice is that Sikhs never move without covering their head in public and removing head gear Pagri is considered as great insult of that particular sikh.Sikhs are fighting all over the world for the symbols of faith. Recently Sikhs in England were allowed to wear kirpan at work, after long legal battle.
The victim Gurpreet told the media person that he was beaten and abused in full public view by around 25 people and on one came to help him. He alleged that workers of their rival liquor contractor were involved in the incident but police is not taking any action against the accused. So for no one was arrested by the police.
When contacted the senior police officer told that they are investigating the issue . As per police there was scuffle between the workers of two liquor contractors and after recording statements they are investigating will take the required legal action against the accused.
Gurpreet singh Montu told that he was beaten by the rival group just to prove their muscle power and keep their influence in the area. He told that one Babbu sharma one of the accused was called by the police was not shown arrested till date.
On the other hand various Sikh organisations have taken the issue seriously and have given ultimatum to the government to take action immediately or they will start protesting against in the whole state. Last date for action by the government as per the Sikh organisation ultimatum is second of April 2017, after which local and even international organisations will protest against the government’s inaction. There have been racial attacks on Sikhs in United States, but this is not a racial attack but a fight which turn out to be attack on symbols of faith , rest police investigation will reveal the facts.
