New Delhi, 1 Oct:
A day before the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, BJP MP Vijay Goel on Wednesday compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Father of the Nation.
A poster put up by BJP leader Vijay Goel at his residence, could create a huge political controversy in the national capital, in which he glorified Modi as the “saint of Sabarmati”. The poster has come up after the prime minister’s return here on Tuesday after a seven-day visit to the US and Ireland.
Goel’s residence is just opposite the BJP headquarters in the national capital. “De di duniya me pahchan nai, uncha kiya bhal, Sabarmati ke sant tune kar diya kamal,” read the poster that has a picture of the prime minister.
These lines are a take-off on a famous song written on Mahatma Gandhi – “De di hame azadi bina kharag bina dhal, Sabarmati ke sant tune kar diya kamal.” The poster has come up after the prime minister’s return here on Tuesday after a seven-day visit to the US and Ireland.
Goel’s residence is just opposite the BJP headquarters in the National Capital. The BJP leader also praised the PM for his successful visit to the United States. The manner in which the comparison has been drawn, is unlikely to go down well with the political parties.
In 2013, in the rally of Jaipur (Rajsthan) , Modi the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, referred to Mahatma Gandhi as Mohanlal, and not Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
