Stage set for Cong Kisan Rally
All the former ministers of Delhi Government except Arvinder Singh Lovely have been given authority to make the Congress Kisan Rally a boom. The rally is to take place on April 19 at Ramlila Grounds.
Lovely was replaced with former Union minister Ajay Maken as president of the DPCC just before the assembly elections.
Dr A. K. Walia who was the senior most minister in the Sheila Dikshit government is chairman of the publicity committee; Dr Narendra Nath has charge of transport; Yoganand Shastri and Haroon Yusuf is in charge of accommodation. Ramakant Goswami, Kiran Walia and Mangat Ram Sinhal have also been given important duty, sources said.
According to the sources, the party has wished around one lakh people in the rally. To make them stay at night, the Congress has got all the nearby dharamshalas booked. Over 3,000 vehicles are expected to be parked near Ramlila Grounds as thousands of farmers of western UP and Haryana are likely to attend the rally which will be addressed by AICC president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
On April 18 the party volunteers would be staying at New Delhi, Old Delhi, and Nizamuddin railway stations to welcome the farmers coming from outside.
